We're quickly approaching the solstice on 11:19 pm EST on Saturday, December 21st, 2019. The solstice marks the shortest day of the year and the beginning of winter. Solstice traditions celebrate keeping the light alive: tending the inner flames and enjoying the sparks, lighting evergreens as symbols of continuing life, and other forms of keeping the fires burning and the lights lit.
